double exposure no 8

Very inspired by Carla and Dave's double exposures so decided this is what I'd do today. Went around the garden snapping bushes and plants like mad then rewound the film and got my daughter to pose. There's a lot to learn here, I've definately got to think about placing shots. Too much sky in both shots. Critique would be very gratefully accepted

I quite like the sky, the open space, above the subjects. Gives the shot a bit of "air" and also fills the top third with a calming emptiness. Well done!

I love the fact that you are prepared to try these things with good old fashioned analogue film. I think that the effect is great.

Love this, another inspiring shot :)

I don't think ther's too much sky, you make a great composition, this is art!

Coolers, think I would have cropped a little from the top, not because of the coloured bar, just to make the person 2/3 of the frame. I'm very OCD like that. But loving it none the less :)

@jase_h Cheers Jase, managed to use picmonkey too, the line at the top was where exposures overlapped - it was annoying :)

@joa Thank you Johanna :)
@steampowered Thank you Paul, my least favourite bit is scanning and processing so that's probably why film is my favourite medium
@johnmnewman Thank you John :)
@annick Thank you Annick :)

This is just stunning!

i really lke this...i don't feel there is any croppng needed.. there is equal space between the person, tree and sky.. very cool shot indeed Ingrd!!

Very nice image, I like the way it progresses from a dense thicket of lines to ethereal nothingness at the top. I wouldn't crop it. Just out of idle curiosity, why did you push the film?

@automaticslim I wanted to underexpose as the film was being double exposed - hope that was right?? This is the cropped version - I didn't align the film right in the camera so the original was quite long

@jacjacs68 @rikshore Thank you for the comments!
@mizhayz This is the cropped version! Seeing it now there is an improvement - thank you :)

Of course, quite right. Halves the amount of light ... it hadn't occurred to me to do it that way. Ignore me, I'm not the sharpest print in the album! :-)

@automaticslim It took me a while! I spent most of the morning looking up info - in the end I just went for it !

I just do them accidentally! The roll in the Lubitel at the moment says 9, but I'm pretty sure there's at least a dozen exposures on there.

@automaticslim Oh tell me! I got a rocket sprocket for my birthday and it's great the film lasts for ages ;) Could be messy but I like happy accidents

Haha! I've made a mental note of that one for future use. I had a strange multiple exposure right at the tail end of a 35mm roll last year - I knew what was happening so it's not really an accident, but the result was a surprise:

Just love this one, and that it was done with film on a whim makes it all the more special.

You never cease to amaze me, wonderful photo. I love the effect of the double exposure!

Wonderful effect. So many interesting elements in this shot. My eyes want to linger and study. Very compelling image.

I was out last week with my camera, and saw a shot and realised , as far as I know , that's one thing our new all singing, dancing and multi feature digital cameras can't do in camera. Years ago I lost some nice shots because of double exposure in film, but also got several shots that looked good. All by accident.
This is a lovely image.

This is really cool looking!

Thank you all very much :)
@vase Thanks Carla but I definately wanted to do some after seeing your double exposure :)
@markp I think with film it's the anticipation as well - taking a shot then wondering if it's going to work. I also learn more from it too - there is no temptation to play around in photoshop, been spending the last couple of days thinking about doing more and figuring out ways of placing things. Digital does have some great things though - like changing film speed whenever you want, I find that frustrating with film :)

Awesome work, love it. Fav

This is one of my favourite effects. Double exposure of trees/shrubs and a head. Great effect
March 4th, 2013
This is great and could be lots of fun to play with creating some cool effects.

Interesting...really cool how this turned out.
