Yesterday and today were spent with our children at an amusement park that originally opened in 1890. Upon researching for this picture, I discovered that it was first a zoo (the zoo was discontinued in 1930) The park moved sites in 1995 but is still going strong and holds many memories from our childhoods.
We split the kids into two groups and took the older one's yesterday and the younger crowd today. We did not intend to stay as long as we did yesterday but we were having so much fun that we stayed until after dark. The husband and I braved through water rides and coasters but when it came time for the last ride, "The Mind Eraser" we both politely bowed out and waited while the kids stood in line. We decided to take a walk around and at one point we realized that it had been a VERY long time since we were both at the park, after dark, to see all the lights. 20 years, at least.
On our walk, I propped the camera on a light poll and let the ferris wheel do a little light painting for me. By that point, the magical atmosphere had long since worn out it's welcome on my knees and hips. But, as the lights sucked me in, I heard screams in the distance that reminded me of my kids who were, no doubt, making memories of their own. It was a good night.
