We had parent teacher conferences tonight. My children are all doing an awesome job in school and I am very proud of them ALL.
Diego was nervous, telling us that he thought he had gotten some bad grades, and did not want to join us as we talked to his teacher. He waited in the hall and words cannot describe the light that spread across his face as I walked out and said, "You made the honor roll." while giving him some knuckles and a then a hug. His smile was HUGE ....and then he said, "Wait....what's honor roll?" As I explained it to him, the smile got bigger and the light brighter.
When we got home, I suggested he send Garrett a text to let him know. That made me the smartest, most awesome mom in the world. He jumped at the chance and while he was texting he stopped to ask me if "honor roll" was one word. "Nope.", I said.
After he was done, I asked for his phone to take a picture of his text. As I was snapping away, his phone buzzed with a reply from College Boy himself.
I just wanted to catch this sweet exchange between my boys and document how proud I am of all of my children. What I read made me chuckle. I started to say something and then I stopped. What the heck....it always has been and always will be an honor to be their mom but, tonight, it can be my "honer", too.
