Old fishing boats

Today we went on our bicycles to the village of Spakenburg.
It was marketday so there was lots to see.
At the end of the market I saw those fishingboats.
(flat-bottomed boats) instead of a keel they have those swords on the side of the boat.

@ludwigsdiana hahaha, ok i’ll have to explain.....this is a really small harbour and those boats on the side lying there for repairs. All are still in use. They are going to participate in Sneekweek (Sneek is a town in Friesland, one of our Northern provinces, and they race with those old boats.

@madeinnl mocht je ooit deze kant op komen doe dat dan op zaterdagochtend dan is er markt en is er ook rond het haventje wel iets te doen. Door de week gaat het wel maar op zondag zit alles hier op slot en is er niets te beleven.

@joev Thank you Joe. As far as i know is that building part of the wharf. They have also a few eel smokehouses in the village. Do you have that too in the states?

I also find this a quaint shot and that is because it looks like it belongs to an older era. An era where life was much slower and peaceful.

Leuke foto. Van de haven en boten.
( volgens mij zijn het rondbodems. Vlakbodems , vlak van onderen, zijn vaak aken . ook die kunnen zijzwaarden hebben. )

@pyrrhula Dank u voor de reactie. U kunt gelijk hebben, ik heb altijd geleerd dat dit platbodems waren en bij gebruik op de wadden niet omvallen vandaar mijn gebruik van het woord. U hoeft van mij niet formeel te zijn hoor, ik ben Jacqueline.....
