Pine Marten by jamibann

Pine Marten

I have never seen a wild Pine Marten before, so was delighted to spot this guy stealing from the squirrel feeder at Balmoral the other day. An elusive creature, the Pine Marten is mostly found in the North of Britain. It prefers woodlands, climbs very well and lives in holes in trees, in old squirrel dreys or old birds' nests. Pine Martens feed on small rodents, birds, eggs insects and fruit.
Great shot! The focus and your comp and dof are all working super nicely in this! Your subject is what caught my eye! He's beautiful! I've never heard let alone seen one of these little guys. Thanks for sharing!

@elatedpixie Oh, so glad you enjoyed the photo! I was well chuffed to see this animal, as I've never seen one before in the wild, although I did know they existed in our area of Scotland. :-)

Same with me; heard of them but have never seen one. Excellent picture you got of this handsome creature. (Imagine they're sort of tough of bird nests.)
