Mistinguett by jamibann

Mistinguett

On New Year's Eve we went to Le Comedia in Paris to see the musical 'Mistinguett'.

Jeanne Bourgeois (Mistinguett) made her debut at the Casino de Paris in 1895 and went on to appear in venues such as the Folies Bergère, Moulin Rouge and Eldorado. Her risqué routines captivated Paris, and she went on to become the most popular French entertainer of her time and the highest paid female entertainer in the world, known for her flamboyance and a zest for the theatrical.
Tells a great story, super lighting and good use of negative space.

@pixiemac @darylo Got lucky with the light. Was sitting reasonably close to the front, and just used my Canon G16 Powershot, zoomed in.

Very effective capture, Issi. Someone I know has a poster of the real Mistinguett in her living room.

I like your composition. The negative space, the lighting on the actors.Very dramatic, if you'll pardon the phrase.

What a gorgeous capture in this stage setting! The story sounds like one I'd thoroughly enjoy! I wonder if it might ever appear in the states,,,perhaps someday as a movie...

@tristansmum Really?! Apparently the real Mistinguett had her legs insured for some astronomical sum of money. Seemingly she died in Bougival, very close to where we currently live.
