We are just back from a weekend in Lyon - 2 hours on the train from Paris. It was a great trip for us - we went to see two rugby matches - the final of the European Champions Cup and the final of the European Challenge Cup. But we also went to discover the city - France's third largest city after Paris and Marseille, and the gastronomic capital of France. We had a whale of a time! This view is looking over the Sâone River towards Vieux Lyon where you can see Cathédrale St Jean on river level and the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière on the hill. They even have a mini 'Eiffel Tower' called the Tour Métallique, which you can see to the right of the photograph.
@peterday Oh, I was waving plenty, and we had great fun. We met Bill Beaumont in a bar in old Lyon ... and I got a photograph of hubby with Brian O'Driscoll at the stadium! Not outstanding matches, either of them, but a wonderful stadium and great atmosphere as usual. Sorry I didn't wave - I will next time! ;-)
What a beautiful setting and captured wonderfully as always. And reading your comments I now understand who the person was with your husband in the other photo. :-)
@woodlandsphotog Yes, it was so cool meeting two of Europe's rugby legends at the weekend. And Lyon is a fantastic city to visit - we'd never been there before.
@jamibann That would be cool! And I can imagine how wonderful Lyon is. I know we will be getting to France in the coming years and hopefully we will make it there.
