I went down to the market on Sunday morning to pick up the ingredients for making a mechouia for taking along with me today to a pot luck lunch, organised by Rosine, one of the ladies from our local gym. I thought the colours of the peppers and the coriander looked rather splendid.
Such a lovely image! These peppers look fantastic! I'm sure they were quite tasty. Like Judith, I had to look up mechouia and it definitely sounds delicious. I hope you enjoyed your pot luck lunch! :-)
@leggzy So funny. I only heard of pot luck meals when we were invited by an American family to join one, many years ago, so it's obviously a US expression. However, it's when everyone brings along a dish. So, I suppose it's luck as to which 'pots' of food people bring along. Do you have a name for it in Australia?
@judithdeacon@gaylewood Thanks ladies. I got the recipe from a Mediterranean cookery class I did a while back. I'd never done it before. Very easy, although the roasting and peeling of peppers is rather onerous! I did 12 for this meal - far too many - so we're still eating it!!!
@jamibann oh I see. I'm not sure that we have an official name for it....we would just say, bring a plate (which of course means, with food on it...lol
Love the vibrant contrasting colours & the meal you cooked sounds interesting....enjoy :)
