The Grand Foyer by jamibann

The Grand Foyer

This is the Grand Foyer of the Palais Garnier which I visited on Friday. Napoleon III ordered the building of this Opera House, using the architect Charles Garnier. It was inaugurated in 1875. Such opulence!
wonderfully majestic, love the repeating chandeliers. Great in the b&w, brings out all the detail. fav

Wow - the grandeur is much more appreciated in BnW. Amazing to think who has actually been with in those walls - wonderful capture of the history in all it's glory.

Yes, wow!
And I think the B&W is very effective, sometimes the intensity of color can overwhelm an image.

I like this but I do like the color version better. You can't see all the paintings in the ceiling and the beautiful golds and other colors.
