My cycling was cancelled this morning because of rain, so there was I, all dressed up (in cycling kit) and nowhere to go. So, I thought I'd pop out and get a shot of the newly flowering peonies in the rain. On first attempt when I uploaded the images, I realised I'd caught this little guy sheltering under the peony, but I hadn't even noticed him when taking the photos, so he wasn't in focus and wasn't even entirely in the frame. So I went back out, to see if he was still there ... and he was ... so I managed to get a couple of decent shots of him. Here he is with a very large drop of rain on his head! :-)
@peterday Oh, thank you Peter, you are very kind! You're right, I'm regretting not being out on the bike, but all my pals cancelled first! I'd have been on my tod!
Like your bike friends, he didn't want to go out in the rain :) Too many nature macros and close-ups are a subject & DOF blur. Yours usually have a composition. Love that this one allows the viewer to imagine why the bug is sheltering.
Great story behind the shot -- I wondered at how you happened to get such a clear image of a hidden bug with a droplet on its head!! Felt better than it took a second trip -- great result!
