This Memorial in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, caught my eye.
It was designed by R. Tait McKenzie who was a Scottish Canadian, and erected in 1927.
It shows a kilted infantryman looking towards Castle Rock. Behind the main statue is a frieze showing queues of men answering the call by following a kilted pipe band.
The memorial was given by Scottish-Americans to honour Scots who had served in the first World War.
@casablanca Have you visited before? There's lots to see and do, but if it's clear and bright, I recommend going up the Scott Monument on Princes street - it gives a great view all around. Also - if you like to walk, get yourselves up Arthur's Seat - it starts from Holyrood Palace. But maybe you know all that?!
@jamibann Only once on a freezing January weekend and we didn't see anything much! I know almost nothing about the city yet - all pointers gratefully received! Thanks for these tips. Copying them now.....
