I have been wanting to see this sculpture for some time now, by Scottish sculptor, Andy Scott. It was unveiled in October 2017, and is situated at the new Marischal Square Development (a development which caused a lot of disagreement between local residents and council) in Aberdeen. However, whatever you may think of the new development, there is no doubt of the beauty of this sculpture. It's inspired by the two leopards on the city of Aberdeen's coat of arms, and is a tribute to the city. The leopard stands 5m tall and has a 5m tail. It sits atop a 10m high steel column.
Great sculpture stands out well from the reflective background. I guess one has to see it in person to get a real sense of size, but your description does help.
What an impressive sculpture! The surrounding glass is wonderful! I checked it out online also...truly amazing. I watched two YouTube videos about Marischal Square and the balancing leopard sculpture . . . one where the developers were describing Marischal Square and Andy Scott briefly described creating the sculpture and in the second video they asked people on the street what they think of the new leopard sculpture. So interesting and I love their Scottish accents! I suppose you have a similar Scottish accent? :-)
@gaylewood Ha ha ... my accent turns on when I go home, I have to confess. I try and keep it under control when I'm outside Scotland though! How nice that you took the time to check out the Marischal Square Development and the Leopard. Andy Scott was also the sculptor of 'The Kelpies' near Falkirk - two massive horse heads. I haven't seen them yet, but they are on my list!
