We went to a new concert venue in Paris last night to see a show called 'Les Franglaises'. It was very funny and the entertainers were incredibly talented.
The building 'La Seine Musicale' which you see here in the photograph, is made up of several public spaces and includes 2 performance venues, a couple of restaurants and several bars. There is also a rooftop garden (you can just make out some people standing on horizon of this shot).
It is situated on an island on the Seine to the west of Paris and only opened last year. I thought the history was interesting. The site used to belong to car manufacturer Renault and was sold by the town of Boulogne for one symbolic euro. 'La Seine Musicale', was designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines. The auditorium almost looks as if it is floating on the river. A large decorative 'sail' made of more than 1 000 m² of solar panels rotates, following the sun.
There is still more work to be completed on the island and that's still ongoing, but the venue is definitely making its mark on this area of western Paris.
Strong architectural scene. For some reason it reminded me of your Houston series, capturing the city before leaving it. Love the lines leading to the globe-like structure.
