The Ancient Staircase to Prasat Preah Vihear

Yesterday, day 4 of cycling, was rather lovely. It was still very hot, but our distance covered was less (a mere 60 km), and the road surfaces were better. We did however slip in a hike up to an ancient temple on the Cambodian/Thai border - only 2600 very steep steps! Well worth it for the views over Cambodia and Thailand but also the ruins of the temple at the top are quite spectacular. The monkeys were a bonus.
Excellent Issi, what a spectacular capture. :)

Thrilling to see them so close, but I understand they are wild animals and can be somewhat dangerous.

You were certainly out and about early. VML the soft shades of morning and the intensity of the shadow so early in the day. Hot?

@tunia I don't know about that, but we were exhausted!

@s4sayer It's really hot at the moment. End of wet season and we're getting 36 degrees most days. Loads of sun cream and water breaks required for the cycling. Moving over to Vietnam shortly though, where it seems to get a bit cooler.

@s4sayer Oh, and I should also say that my camera is still on UK time settings, and so this was actually early afternoon.

@Dawn Fine Dawn, but we did have a break after 1000. We were all overheating!

I’m imagining looking at views and temples with the monkey happening by. Yes, quite an eventful day. Also, heavy on physical activity it sounds like.

Great capture. Those monkeys are terrible One of them stole my husband's eyeglasses and when finally she let them go they were completely unusable. In a nay case an adventure!

@caterina Monkeys are terrible! We had a close call with some getting into our beach house in South Africa once. They can be very aggressive where food is concerned too. Shame about your hubby’s glasses!
