I went for a tour of the new modernised 5* Fife Arms Hotel (owned by Swiss Fine Art Dealers Hauser and Worth) in Braemar today, knowing I'd be fascinated but also frustrated as no photography is yet allowed. It is the most amazing piece of art - that's how I'd describe it. I'd need hours to go around looking at everything that is on display - including originals by Louise Bourgeois, Picasso, Gupta, Freud to name but a few. But I had a fantastic 45 minutes taking in everything with my eyes. I'll go back for photos after it has opened on 20th December. If you're interested here's the website : https://thefifearms.com. Anyway, after that delightful visit, hubby wanted to check out the river west of Braemar to see how all the recent rain had affected it, so we drove up to the Linn of Dee to check it out. I was offered this beautiful rainbow. I was not the only photographer around, either, can you spot her? And all of this on St. Andrew's day. :-)
Ah, what a blessing! A beautiful rainbow to photograph and after all that amazing artwork too. Happy St Andrew's Day! And yes, I can see her.......I wonder what her picture turned out like?
Oh my word that hotel is so luxurious! I expect they will have some very illustrious guests over the coming years! A great asset for Braemar! The scenery is so wide & awesome, love the browns & greys here & the photographer hasn’t got quite as good a view as you!
What a beautiful scene, Issi, and thank you for mentally challenging us to envision that wonderful hotel with its works of art!!! I'm off to see the web site and look forward to a time you can show us your photos of it as well!
Oh wow!!! What a place to stay!!! And I thought of you this morning when I looked at my November calendar before turning the page...and there was "St Andrews Day" (Scot) Of course it was you who came to mind, and today, your photo and story didn't disappoint!
Issi, as always you're taking your viewers on tours of the most lovely, interesting places. I've missed your tours! Lovin' the colors the rainbow gave you.
@lyndemc Well hello there stranger! Are you back, or just visiting? If you've missed my tours of interesting places, I've missed your photographic artwork heaps more! I've also missed your lovely insightful commenting. I do hope you're back ... you've been away quite long enough!
@dide Yes, hubby said ... 'you can stop on the way back' ... but we know better than that, don't we? Never miss the moment or you regret it long enough!
Yes I spotted the photographer.
And WOW the Fyfe Arms looks like a very special place for a special occasion.
