I posted an image on Friday last week of hubby sanding the roof of our little 'shieling'. My turn today. He's gone fishing and so I thought I'd get ahead with sanding down the floor. As I was doing it, I was struck by the beauty of the grain on the floorboards, and thought it worthy of 365. That's about a third done ... time for a rest now!
Getting the sander out brought me back to when the kids were toddlers, I was working full time, and I decided (as you do) that I needed to bring back all the wood in our house to its original state. John was working offshore at the time, and every evening, after the kids were in bed, I got out the nitromors, the sanders, sandpaper and tools, and got to work. I must have been mad! I loved the end result however. A labour of love it was. No wonder I cried when we sold that house.
Yep...I understand. When we left the UK to take up permanent residence in France (which was always the long term plan) our house and garden were nicely up to muster, yet moving to the outback of rural France was an adventure...and we're still here...Brexit notwithstanding.
Oh I feel your pain at the reminiscing, I have been down that road several times! Nitromors is so strong.....a dirty horrible job but very satisfying! It’s a time consuming messy job but very worthwhile, you only have to look at this beautiful grain! Well done Issi!
