Glentanar Estate by jamibann

Glentanar Estate

Hubby has bought himself a new road bike. To keep up with me, he says. Hmm. Anyway we got our first opportunity to get out on the road today, now that the snow has well and truly gone for the moment ... it was an unseasonal 14 degrees today! We had a lovely cycle down to Aboyne and back, passing by Glentanar on the way home.
What a gorgeous backdrop!

Fav! Love seeing this part of Scotland. I believe my 3x great-grandmother Isabella Middleton Smith might have lived near here.

@genealogygenie How very interesting. We live in Ballater, which is just 11 miles from Aboyne. Glentanar Estate is between the two. There are a lot of Essons in Ballater. Smith is a very common name here. Forbes is quite common too, and we are actually related to the Forbes clan, as my husband's name, Bannerman, relates to the fact that they were the Banner carriers for Clan Forbes. I guess Drumgask is the name of a farm or house in the area? I must keep an eye out for it!!! Should I encounter it, I'll take a photo!!!
