We went for a walk up Glen Gairn and Geallaig hill yesterday, covering almost 19 km. Whilst walking we scared a mum grouse with her wee ones ... they all went scarpering off into the distance, but this little fellow was left behind. I guess he thought we couldn't see him, and he just stayed perfectly still, although I could see his little heart beating hard. He was probably petrified, but let me get really close to take a photo with my little point-and-shoot. I then went off and left him in peace, very content with my selection of photos of him in his hiding place among the heather branches. Thank you baby grouse.
And we got good news from our 'baby' too - the results are in and he is now the proud holder of an M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering. Girlfriend's results were good too, so we're delighted for them both. :-)
Such a beautiful photo of the baby grouse. I love knowing the back story to how you came to capture it. Also congratulations to your son and his girlfriend on their results :) that is fabulous news.
We saw 'our' Red-legged Partridges arrive and thereafter their chicks, yet little else since. Partly, I suspect, as a result of erecting a fence to keep Mitzi and the Partridges out of harm’s way. Previously the Ps sauntered near the house and ate the seeds we left for them. I miss them. However, am cheered by the fact that they were here, albeit incognito!
First that was a very long walk.....feel bad grumbling about mine now! Lucky to see this wee bird, so glad he stayed put & you were able to get this shot. Beautiful markings! Many congratulations to your son & his girlfriend, big celebrations tonight! Such a relief when hopes are realised!
Such beautiful markings of blacks and browns. Don't you just love it when nature dares to give you the chance to photograph it. Makes me smile when it happens. Super congrats to your son on his accomplishment! I know he's got some very proud parents.
Wonderful capture of this cute baby grouse. I like the way he’s framed in the heather branches. Huge congratulations to your son and his girlfriend on their academic accomplishments! That’s absolutely fabulous! :-)
