Attaching the Tracking Device

My final golden eagle post. This is the tracking device being fitted to the eagle's back/chest. An intricate piece of work and you can see how calm the bird was throughout the whole affair. Tomorrow it's Donegal calling - a day trip with FiL who's very frail but wants to go back to the area where family holidays were had, many years ago. Lots of memories there. Sorry I haven't been commenting much - it's all very busy here - I hope to get back into my routine again very soon!
These are precious times.
Two years ago my dear Dad passed away and I treasure special moments we shared...
In the garden and just listening.

Loved this series of photos. Hope the trip goes really well. I am sure some wonderful warm memories will be sparked.

A huge device. It's amazing the eagle allows it to stay on. Serious hood. It not only shields the eyes but seems to capture the lower jaw to prevent it from opening. This has been an interesting series of photos.

That hood is quite a contraption. Such an interesting series -- I feel like I've learned something new!

@sarah19 Yes. Yesterday was indeed a special, although very tiring, day!

@randystreat I was surprised by the size of the device too Kathy. In fact, the actual tracker sits on its back. What you see here is a cardboard template to allow the ribbon 'harness' to sit in the right place. The guy removed the template and then sewed/glued the 'ribbons' in the right spot. He took great care and a fair bit of time to do all that.

@taffy I certainly felt I'd learned something when I came away that evening!

@jamibann Interesting! Thanks for fleshing this out a bit for me.
