This is the charming gentleman, and ex-soldier, Hugh, who uses our greenhouse and keeps me supplied with cucumbers, tomatoes and courgettes. You'll have seen me comment on Hugh before, and I posted a photo of him last July, tending his Begonias. This year I got a photo of him outside the War Memorial in Ballater. Hugh, at the tender age of 93, still tends to the grass and flowers at the War Memorial and regularly wins the prize for the Best Kept Memorial. He is an inspiration to all. I was lucky to get this photo of him in his kilt outfit, as he'd been asked for a photo (by the local photographer) in front of the memorial, for an article in the local magazine. I happened to walk past with my camera, so got him to smile for me - a much more informal shot than the one which will ultimately appear in The Eagle.
That is the face of a happy contented man, keeping busy & interested in life. What a life he has had but it certainly hasn’t let his war years get him down. You would never put his age at 91....more like 71 perhaps!
Glad you have Dad out of hospital and hope things go well.
