Another Saturday wander in the hillside with son and hubby provided me with a few more interesting shots for 365. Starting with this one. We saw four adders yesterday. Of all shapes and sizes. This one let me get a half decent picture. You can see how well camouflaged they are.
It's decades since I last saw one for real, their camouflage is stunning, isn't it? Absolutely love this!
I think I am going to steal an idea from Peter Day and try for an alphabet challenge from 1st May. It gets harder finding things to photograph on Lockdown and it might make me think differently.
I would never have noticed....blending in so well with the surroundings! I have never seen a snake in the wilds...thought they were mostly in the South of England.
Oh My Goodness! I don't mind snakes like some people do, but are adders poisonous? You certainly caught him looking straight at you...and you mentioned so MANY of them!
@happypat We get a lot here in the hills, Pat. This is prime time for seeing them as they come out of hibernation around now, and they love to sunbathe!
@Weezilou They are poisonous, yes, but rarely fatal! Like most snakes, they would prefer to avoid humans, but if you should step on one, you'll get bitten. We tend to wear boots with high ankles and long trousers at this time of year ... and try to avoid tramping through the heather. Better to stay on paths, and keep your eyes open!
