I was down by the river yesterday and was taken by the colour of the gorse, blooming brightly on the river banks. Such a vibrant, lively colour, and much needed during this difficult period of time. Stay safe everyone - this is not over yet.
Now, here's the tale! Some original immigrants to NZ brought this plant in to provide a good hedge! Now its rife, particularly in the South where we are. The seed will stay in the soil for decades. However its lovely golden colour sets the hill alight around Dunedin!
@maggiemae Yes, I believe it's a bit of a problem in NZ. It fairly needs to be kept under control. Fantastic colour in Spring though. Every cloud and all that ...
and..."And to halt at the chattering brook, in a tall green fern at the brink
Where the harebell grows, and the gorse, and the foxgloves purple and white;
Where the shifty-eyed delicate deer troop down to the brook to drink
When the stars are mellow and large at the coming on of the night"

How delightful! When I see gorse I see the coastline of the Isles of Scilly in my mind or the Yorkshire moors. Ahhh, you are taking me to favourite places in my dreams......
Yellow is the color of Spring to me- and this is a picture that really demonstrates that. It reminds me of the splash of yellow we get from our Forsythia bushes. Very pretty!
