I always set Strava on my phone to record walks and cycles that we do. It's very handy to look back to see how long it took, what time of year it was, how far it was ... etc. However, I completely forgot during yesterday's walk with a couple of friends, and only remembered to set it half way through. I was so excited to be chatting with them, that not only did I forget to set Strava, but I also forgot to take a picture at the top of the hill. Anyway, I remembered half way down and took a few shots at the old quarry. The Autumn colours were splendid and the sun was out for a while.
A lovely day spent in the company of good friends which included a late lunch at Finzean Farm Shop. It completely made up for my forgetfulness!
@casablanca Strava is just a phone app which registers distance, mode of travel, elevation gained, time taken, etc. It also allows you to post a photograph or more, and comment on your activity if you feel so inclined. It's a great way of keeping a note of walks, runs, cycles, etc. And of course you can have as many friends as you like and you can comment on other people's activities too. No charge for the basic version.
Sometimes it's nice to just be in the moment and not worry about documenting everything. It sounds like the time spent with your friends was what needed to be recorded on this outing and this shot does a lovely job of it. The quarry sounds like a cool place to explore.
I really like the tones here, and how smooth the lighter patches go into darker ones. Great memory for a special day. I have something similiar like Strava,... I normaly do start it, but always forget to hit the "break" button, when I sink into photography on the way,... and so I normally can use only the distance and the altitude meters to log my trips,... as the rest is just a mixture of sporty and photography time. ;-) But Ann H. is so right. not everything has to be documented. Good time out in nature (with friends) is worth much more.
