My Little Green Book by jamibann

My Little Green Book

This little book has sat on my office window sill since July, and has been written in weekly ever since. I just finished with it yesterday, and it will now go away until next April.

I was cajoled into being 'competition secretary' for our local golf club last April - despite not being a competitive golfer - I prefer friendly golf. However, I understood that it's difficult to get people to do these jobs and so I accepted, albeit it fearfully, as I felt I might not be up to the job.

Anyway, I was all ready when Covid struck. No-one was allowed into the golf club and competitions were cancelled until further notice ... off the hook, I was! Then it all began in July. But, because of Covid restrictions, it was deemed that everyone would contact me to sign up for the weekly competitions. So, my little green book was purchased to note all the whatsapps, texts, emails and phone calls received. And now it's all over. Yesterday was the final competition for this season. Can't say I'm not glad about that, but I'll miss my little green book. I wonder if it will have to come out next April, or will things be 'normal'? Who knows? I certainly don't.
Teddy's got his eye on it so you don't lose it, I see!
You almost got away with a quiet season then! I have no idea when "normal" will return. Could be a while yet with Winter only on the horizon approaching, but I have just realised why a vaccine is a good idea, even if immunity from it does not last. It provides a good break in transmission to calm it all down to the point of not being a problem. That sounds like a plan to me! Hang in there. Spring will come and one day children will be asking you questions for their history projects about what it was like in a pandemic.....

A delightful capture… Every picture tells a story, and your narrative gives further depth. I’m using ‘distraction’ as my ‘new normal’ and I’m hoping to have completed my long list of unfinished task - both outside and inside, during this time of higher risk, in a large and busy city!

Mixed feelings by the sounds of it

Lovely shot and story. I am sure teddy will look after the book until things become 'normal' again.

I like the little 🧸 and certainly hoping for the old normal to be back soon.

I love the little teddy but I don't think things will be back to normal next year. Such wearying times

The problem with doing a good job is that you will certainly be asked to do it again. It will be easier the second time around.

Lovely shot and story.

Wow the job turned out to be different than you imagined & I think instead of being just ‘competitions secretary you turned into major co-ordinator extraordinaire! You are so right, no one is keen to do those sort if jobs! Hope things are back to normal next year but it’s not looking good!
You have shutters....woe I love shutters!

Fantastic capture... what really spoke to me more so than the book, was the bear. This was an instant fave for me. You story with this was wonderful. You were busy this season, just different than anticipated. This capture is fabulous because you did it in a manner that not only told a story but also allowed the viewer to relate to the photo in more ways than one.

@casablanca That's an interesting thought, that in years to come people will be asking us about living through this epidemic. :-)

@elatedpixie Oh, thank you so much for your lovely comments. :-)

@happypat Yes, I love shutters too. We only have them on the front of our house, downstairs. I need to do something with the ones in the photo, as the paintwork is cracked and needs redoing. But I kind of like the crackled effect and so am hesitant to fix it up. The shutters in the lounge have been brought back to the natural wood, so no worries there!

@miss_molly Oh, yes, me too. I don't see the weeks pass. We always have a project of some sort on the go. Gardens are like that, aren't they?!

@jamibann They look perfect....

Delighted to see your bear!
I'm now thinking about giving my 'Picnic of Bears' an Autumn visit to 365.

Tender black and white- it doesn't matter that it's a golf book. Teddy "steals" the show making it look like Mama was reading a story and left the book on the window sill. To be continued...

I am sure Teddy will miss you writing in the book. What an adorable little bear.

Lovely ageless still life. I love the teddy. I like Ann's description of a story waiting to be completed.
