I made myself a cuppa and sat down to enjoy an hour of peace and quiet reading in the sunshine. I just thought the relaxing 'scene' merited a place amongst my 365 photos ... I feel that there are not many of these moments at present.
The book was one that I took from dad's house, and it was excellent. A WW2 true story, by Eric Lomax, of torture and reconciliation.
I have read this book too. My uncle Jack was in a Japanese pow camp and was forced to work on the Burma railway too. He survived the war but when he returned home to my auntie Freda, he had no teeth, no fingernails due to torture and only weighed 5 stone. It was two years before he was able to sleep in a bed again, he slept on the floor and woke up screaming every night for two years. He never spoke of the horrors he endured
More of these relaxing moments are so important. It seems modern man is always in a rush the whole time, me included. Learning again to slow it down and take time over savouring the little moments. Good for you.
