Scottish Adder by jamibann

Scottish Adder

We came across this adder on the road when out for a cycle with friends yesterday. We stopped. I took a picture and then husband flicked it off the road, with a stick, into the grassy edge to save it from being run over. Not a great shot as I only had my wee point and shoot camera with me and I didn't dare go too close to the venomous end!
A nice shot for reference though, and good on you for saving t.

I don't know if adders know how to say thank you, but I do know that you are thankful to not step on it!

How beautiful snake this is….the skin is stunning but I’m not that keen to get near enough so a photo is perfect!

You did a nice job of getting the pattern on the body. I don't like snakes but the colors and design of the skin are beautiful.

@onewing Not deadly, unless you happen to be allergic, but poisonous, yes.

@terryliv Fairly common in the hills here, yes. They love to bask in the sun.

All good then! Don't fancy meeting one of these!
