We cycled from Ballater to Glenshee yesterday to meet these three. They've done a phenomenal job so far, cycling from Land's End. They have 3 more days to go to get to John O' Groats. Inverness for them today, via the Lecht; that will be a tough one. We thought it appropriate to drop in by Balmoral yesterday, en route back to Ballater. The Queen wasn't in, but the gates made a good back drop.
They are cycling to spread awareness and show the impact that adventure and the outdoors can have on your mental well being. Go Team 'Mind over Miles'!
I like their attitude and the awareness. Testing one's limit is good - provided you don't have a heart problem. I obviously don't with the amount of stress related recreational activity that i have been subjected to!
Good for them - going into town is enough for me! My friend did it years ago with two children under ten (I think one of them was probably one of the youngest if not the youngest child to do Land’s End to J O’G but they weren’t the sort of people to make a fuss about it or even give him much credit!!) - she got back home and booked a cruise for the following year before her husband could suggest a repeat performance….
When I was an ankle biter back in the early 1950s, Dad used to subscribe to "National Geographic" and one of the stories that really intrigued me was "From Jon O Groats to Lands End". It wasn't the story so much as the names. They sounded so exotic. I never forgot it.
I never did the trip but many, many years later, I had the pleasure of visiting both places and thus fulfilling a childhood fantasy
@happypat The queen is actually in residence at the moment, and so there were two armed policemen standing on the left of this photo! I asked nicely before we got the cyclists to position themselves for the photo, as you never know!
@jamibann "Mystical". That's the word I was trying to think of.
When you get to Lands End, just shut your eyes as you walk through the really, really tacky tourist "attractions". It was winter when we visited so thankfully, they were all shut. The wind nearly blew us off the cliff tops
Good shot- and excellent challenge! Glad to hear they made it through the tough spot and best wishes to them for the remainder of the trip to be safe and in good speed.

Lovely shot of these 2 cyclers.
