I totally forgot to take a photo of dad on his birthday yesterday, so am posting an old one of his. Taken in 1948 on the farm at Midmar. Dad on the horse (in his Robert Gordon's School uniform!), with his friend Alistair holding the bridle and my grandad looking on. I wonder if granny, or someone else took the photo? Despite forgetting to take a photo, we had a lovely time with him in Braemar yesterday.
Lovely memories.....and so good to know the exact people and the place and date.......so many of our old family photos have no information at all.....!
No saddle either….there is something really nostalgic & sweet looking back at your dad in his youth like this. I feel it when I look at childhood photos of my parents ….. you wish they would be young & carefree for ever. Glad he enjoyed his birthday….
I just love these old photos- each one is so full of character. It looks like your dad was getting a reward after a good day at school. Great picture for the memories.
