Disembarked and Disenchanted

We were travelling back from Belfast yesterday. By 8.15 am we were onboard our Easyjet flight to Edinburgh. By 8.20 am we were disembarked with no clear idea of when we'd be leaving.

We read in the papers later that there had been a 'major security alert'.

As we sat on the flight, 4 policemen boarded and left with two individuals. As we were speculating the nature of the arrest, we were all asked to disembark, exiting the departure area, going through security all over again, and then waiting for our flight to be called. No details were given. When chatting with another disenchanted passenger who had been closer to the 'action', it seems that a young guy had been seen tweeting that he had a bomb on board. A fellow passenger had reported him. I can't guarantee that this is what happened, as I got the information second hand, but it does seem like a likely explanation. What was he thinking? Did he think it was funny? Was he serious? I guess we may never know!

However, hubby took full advantage of the delay to buy himself the new Trout and Salmon magazine and I got my photo for the day.
The story is more exciting than the photo but good that you took advantage!

A tale of our times indeed... and I like the photo - it's a sort of mirror image of your dilemma.

Fabulous photograph. What a tale! One thing is for sure, you can't joke about such things in this day and age!!

This is such a great photo, fabulous focus on the magazine. What a saga you went through with your flight, I hope those individuals have learned the error of their ways.

Oh Issi, such an experience for you both & the other passengers....Some people have no sense at all.

Oh, dear. This world has gotten so crazy.

Such a great story, we sure live in weird times.

People are Strange.....so said Jim Morrison many years ago......he was not wrong !

Ah, the things we say are okay since we got a picture.

This image feels very journalistic. I like it! Hope the remainder of your trip went more smoothly.

Crazy times we live in now. Better safe than sorry. Looks like you two made the best of it. The airport looks pretty busy.

Well that sounds very scary, we live in troubled times & some silly fools like to act clever! Hope he got his come uppance, I expect he got a big fright if that’s what happened but very comforting to think they were quick on the arrest even though reported by another passenger!
I like your black & white salmon photo. I did think at first glance it said First Class…thought you were living it up but not perhaps with EasyJet! 🤣🤣🤣

What an intriguing story. I'm glad you didn't get caught up in anything nasty!

Great use of black and white - and what a troubling story indeed! Thanks for sharing

Ohhh what a story (and a pain for you). I remember telling our kids when they were younger not to joke or give smart comments when we went through airports. Hopefully it was just someone who wasn't thinking (the alternative option is just a bit scary to contemplate)!

Brilliantly captured and what a story! That’s a bit frightening and I’m glad you can sit and ponder. Definitely a time it’s possibly best, not to know for sure!

This is not a laughing matter. Every lead is taken very seriously. Such times! Great pov and dof.

Oh my how disturbing, glad everyone was safe!

Your photo paints a picture of waiting for flights! How exasperating for you, but it has to be taken seriously. There are quite a few disturbed people around.
January 8th, 2022
Glad you could at least take advantage of the delay. Like the pov and dof.

Flying's not nearly the fun it use to be!

Love the photo. The use of b&w, the wonderful DoF. What a scary experience. Glad things worked out and that you guys are safe and sound.

Oh dear, bit of not really necessary drama. Good capture of the day.
January 8th, 2022
Love that you made the most of the episode to get a photo for the day! Rather frustrating delay... you do wonder about the minds of some people!!

Great photo story

This is a great photo! Thank you for sharing this. I am glad no one was hurt. I tried looking this up and did not find this specific instance however in July of this year almost the exact same thing happened
(mid flight though) between England and Spain on a EasyJet flight. Here is the article with an interesting French safety video at the end if you're flying a personal plane and get intercepted by a fighter jet for some reason!
Also according to the bio blurb the journalist seems really interesting and has a lot of knowledge on flight information and doing journalism overseas.
