This shows where the boats enter the lift from the bottom level. A gate goes down, the boats enter, and then the gate goes back up, and the big 'commas' rotate, all the while keeping the boat upright, delivering it to the top level. Once there, the gate goes down again and the boat enters the canal. Interesting stuff.
