Pamir Highway by jamibann

Pamir Highway

And just in case you thought the Pamir Highway looked quite innocuous in the previous image ... here's what it's like in some parts of Tajikistan. No wonder I'm getting greyer by the day!
Oh dear ... that does look a bit rough... hope there is a car wash where they are heading...

@julzmaioro A car wash and a shower ... they are looking as dirty as the car these days!

An adventure, but maybe you'd be better not to see the pics until they are safely finished!

Desolate looking landscape. Don't worry - there is PLENTY of room! I've been on "roads" in Peru that make this one look positively inviting! ;)

That looks like there could be some hair raising situations around every corner. Bet you are pleased to find out after the fact what type of roads they were traversing.

This is one of things I would love to do,... but I'm pretty sure I never will. So, I'm glad your son is on this adventure trip, and having this wonderful experiences and on the other hand I feel with you, this must be so tough for you.

Wow, that's a scary road! Best you don't know the half, lol!

How much longer do they have to go? I'm not sure I'd sleep seeing shots like this! The shots to give moms nightmares.

@Weezilou Thank goodness for Whatsapp during this trip. The other two mothers and I had a daily chat ... passing on any information we might have, as we didn't always hear from the boys on a daily basis. And on days where there simply was no information, we chatted anyway - it helped us enormously! The worst parts being this 'highway' and Iran where we heard nothing for days on end, because of no internet (surprisingly ... not!). I'm happy to say they are all back safe and sound. They had the most amazing time, and I think they are still just realising what an amazing trip they had.
