We had a sad day today. Our sweet 16 year old kitty passed away from kidney failure. Second day of spring and we had sun, snow and hail. The melting droplets were so pretty and make for some wonderful bokeh.
Tomorrow is another day.
I'm so sad with this news - she would have been having trouble and you would have been worried for some time! However, when she's gone, it is final and all you have are memories and hopefully they are all good!
@maggiemae - He had been under veterinary care for over a year. It came on suddenly - he started losing weight and drinking a lot. We took him to the vet right away and he was diagnosed with renal failure. He did great for a long time but recently had started to slide and we had to make a difficult decision. I had written about him on my facebook page - how he came to us, got his name etc. He was a good kitty and lived a great life. Thank you for your kind words.
@mamamia - Thanks Joanne. Yes they do. Our other cat was rescued from 'kitty death row' - considered unadoptable - so he has been a fun challenge! :) We also have two bullmastiffs - our furkids.
@swilde - Thank you Sue. I am sorry about your kitty, too. My vet told me chronic renal failure is a very frequent thing. I had not heard of it before. His buddy make it to almost 20 and died from old age.
Oh gosh. I am so sorry Jan. Alas, it comes to all of us in the end. Our little grey girl is almost seventeen and is wasting away in a similar fashion. We know the end isn't that far away too.
Jan, so sorry for the loss of your furbaby. I know all those years of memories will be his legacy to a family that loved and cherished him.
And the photo is lovely and seems extra appropriate for today.
@steampowered - thanks Paul and sorry your little girlie is fading, too. Usually weight loss and drinking a lot are signs of kidney trouble. @alisonp@missk@carolb@bristolrose@pflaume@sansjuan - thanks everyone for your kind words. Walt was a great kitty and we definitely have only wonderful memories and lots of smiles when we think of him. @bailey - thank you, Julie.
So sorry, Jan, to hear your sad news. You become so close to your animal family members and so sorry when you lose them. This is a beautiful gentle shot.
@sailingmusic - thanks Myrna - we probably will at some point. I will let the rescue people we got Iggy, our other cat, know that Iggy wants a buddy. He and Walt didn't get along - Iggy tried but Walt didn't like other cats. As much as I would love a kitten, can't take the chance an eagle or horned owl would take it. When we got Iggy, I told the rescue I didn't care about color - only the cat be a good size and be OK with other cats. So many nice cats are overlooked because they are adult, or not as pretty, but in general they are excellent cats. Walt was probably our last kitten (and that was 16 years ago).
@cazann - thanks Caz. So hard for my hubby too - Walt was his lap warmer when he was working. @cathieg - thanks kindly Cathie - we really do become attached. @frankhymus - thanks Frank - the light cones are fun reflecting on raindrops on my Japanese stewartia tree. They make lovely bokeh, I think. @judis - thanks kindly, Judi.
Fabulous shot
