In our area, a typical September gives us 1.5" of rain. In Olympia (the nearest town 'as the crow flies') got 8" this September, the wettest in recorded history. We had a huge storm to follow up the rain. My house is surrounded by 120ft and taller douglas fir trees - shallow rooted. When my weather radio went off and warned of a damaging storm, I was a bit concerned. My hubby was on the other side of the Country in NC visiting his parents. We lost electricity briefly, and have branches to pick up, but all went well. I did tell my hubby that if the bee hives toppled, I wasn't volunteering to right them. They did fine, too.
This is a pasture nearby. I liked the late afternoon light on the water.
I know that is a stressor to worry about those trees. Glad to hear all is well. This is a gorgeous photo of the results all that rain. I am really impressed with the colors you caught, Jan.
Beautiful capture of this pretty scene, Jan. I am so sorry to hear about your rain and storm. I am thankful for you that you didn't lose any trees and the bees survived.
