the cellar steps by jantan

the cellar steps

One part of our house is over 400 years old. It used to be a pub called "The Case is Altered." It has a very interesting cellar which still contains the carved stone trough that used to be used for salting pigs. I love the way that the steps have worn and often wonder about the people who must have used them over the years.

When I visited the UK for the first time 6 years ago, I stayed in my Uncle's pub which had been standing since the 1700s. It just blew my mind that folk had been drinking there longer than Australia had been recognised as a land mass. I had to bob down in a couple of doorways as they were so low.
