We were adopted by her 12 years ago when we were living in Singapore. We weren't looking for a cat because we knew that we wouldn't be living there for ever, but she arrived one day with a kitten in her mouth, took up residence in one of our storm drains and we didn't have the heart to turn her away. Every day, for four days she brought us another kitten.
She wasn't given a proper name, but just referred to as "the Mummy Cat" as part of our vain attempt not to become too attached to her. We found homes for her kittens, had her spayed but never quite got round to finding her a new home.
She used to be a relentless killer of snakes and birds and often brought us living presents of foot long lizards which she used to release in the house. In fact I became quite adept at catching them in the colander and letting them go outside.
Anyway, 12 years, two thousand pounds airfare and quarantine, and an 8000 mile journey later, she is still with us. She isn't quite as nimble as she used to be, and we are not exactly sure how old she is, but hopefully she will still be around for some time yet. We have all grown rather fond of the old girl.
What a lovely story and a great image of an often tricky subject - I know I always had problems getting good shots of our pure black cat who lived to the ripe old age of 19. She looks so contented and I bet you have no regrets about the cost of keeping her XXX
I love her eyes. A bit like my brother's dog from Alice Springs (now in London), I bet she never knew what hit her the first time she encountered snow!
She's so pretty, what a great story! She reminds me of the all-black cat my family had when I was growing up. He had yellow eyes, and my sister named him Salem, lol.
That is a fabulous pic!! Black cats are my favorite!! I want one but my boyfriend isn't a fan of cat boxes and we can't have an outdoor cat because we have 30+ chickens, 27 ducks and various other animals lol. So, I'll enjoy one through you! =)
Beautiful Eye's ...she is lucky to have found you!
