a man on a mission

thought I would park my car in the short term parking in Stratford upon Avon today and take a quick shot of the gold post boxes before picking my eldest son up from the gym.

I was only going to be there for a couple of minutes so thought I would risk not buying a parking ticket. I had forgotten that the traffic wardens in Stratford are like vultures and I was immediately pounced on. You can see that he has got his eye on my car (the blue Land Rover) so I quickly put my camera away and caught up with him just as he was getting to my car. Fortunately he bought my story about just getting some change.........

In the UK the post office have painted one (or in this case two) of the normally red post boxes gold in Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists' home towns.

James Roe is a partially sighted rower who won gold in this year's paralympics. He lives in Stratford and went to the school that my eldest son attends. Yesterday he took part in an open top bus ride around the town and a large crowd cheered him on. The boys from my son's school were allowed out of lessons to join in the fun.

My son is a rower and for him and the other rowers it was a particularly joyous occasion because James Roe's father, who is also his coach is also their rowing teacher.

Took the dog for a check up at the vet this morning, they are amazed at how much better she seems. Such a relief - here's hoping the improvement continues
Yay! No parking ticket and GO Paralympics!

Awesome story. The other day I did the same thing, but I was too late to talk myself out of the ticket!

Great photo! I found you because of the Stratford-upon-Avon tag.... I was there on Sunday for mother's day with my family. I didn't know about the gold post boxes - that was interesting to read. And how cool about your son's connections with James Roe and his father. How very exciting! ;)
