Darwin's bathtime by jantan

Darwin's bathtime

Darwin went to a new home today. It has been a really difficult decision and I am a bit sad, but he is just not getting the attention that he deserves here. This is mainly because he hates my husband and since my eldest son's voice has broken he hates him too which means that he cannot come out of his cage if they are around or he will attack them. It would have been very easy to sell him, but we have decided to have him re-homed by an organisation who retain ownership of him and keep a check on him to make sure that he is being properly looked after. All sounds very much like the arrangement I have with the Donkey Sanctuary where I foster my donks from.

Before he went I gave his cage a really good clean and let him do his favourite thing which is taking a shower in the kitchen sink. After his shower he rolls around on an old tea towel to get dry.

Here he is drying off:

The lady who picked him up was taking him straight to his "halfway house" (sounds like an ex-convict!) and he was going to be staying with a lady who lives alone, works from home, and runs a hedgehog rescue! So hopefully he will be able to come out of his cage lots and will receive lots of fuss. He will stay with her for a few weeks while he is assessed and they decide what sort of place he should go to for his "forever home."
Great shot. Would have been hard to give him up.

aw fantastic shot. One of the most responsible things we can do as animal lovers is realise when something needs to have a different home. Well done you, I'm sure he'll be missed but at least you know he will be kept an eye on

Excellent action shot! Fav! I'm so sorry to hear about Darwin having to leave. I had to give up a best friend - a Cockatiel of 9 years when we moved to Germany. I still miss him.

Great shot - I can understand how you must feel as I would be devastated if we had to give Bas away. Fortunately, he's not fussy about people and just loves anyone who will give him a fuss1

Darwin is no stupid bird. I didn't know they liked water. Funny story (but not for the men in your house), it made me laugh.
