very very sad day today. I attended the funeral of one of my neighbours. Colin was such a lovely man who shortly after retiring two years ago was diagnosed with cancer. He was a larger than life character who had lived in the area all his life and was known and loved by many.
The church in our little village was bursting at the seams with most of the congregation being forced to stand - a true testament to Colin's popularity. He will be missed.
Really wasn't in the mood to take a photograph so just walked up the garden and shot the sinking sun
"Everyone’s always alone on the earth’s breast
pierced by a ray of sunlight:
and suddenly it’s evening"
(Salvatore Quasimodo)
That's a poem that I've loved for years, ever since it was in my grandpa's obituary. So beautiful and so true. And matches your picture for the day. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Fabulous shot and I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of this great character. We miss all these lovely people but it must have been a comfort to know so many people attended his funeral and cared about him
