the obligatory blossom shot. Well, it's that time of year isn't it? So, cliche or not, here is a shot of some blossom that I have been eyeing up for a couple of weeks on the drive to pick the kids up from their school buses. I have been a little bit worried about stopping to take the pics because the tree it is growing on is on the edge of an army base and I have been a little bit concerned that I might be arrested or something if I am mistaken for a spy.
I have to admit that I have been having a little bit of a sulk today, having convinced myself that this summer is going to be just as bad as the last one. It has been so cold, with torrential rain and hail at various intervals. Our garden is due to be opened to the public in just under four weeks and everything is so far behind, I have got visions of it being a mass of dying daffodils and not much else when the day comes. As time goes on I realise more and more that I a really am a fair weather gardener as I find it really difficult to summon up much enthusiasm to go out when the weather is like this. Moan over.........
Angus' GCSEs start for real tomorrow. Gulp! Who knows how he will do........... as I tyrpe this I can hear him playing the guitar in his room - no he isn't doing GCSE music. I imagine that I will be posting quite a few shots of Stratford upon Avon over the next few weeks as I will be driving him to school and hanging around waiting for his papers to finish so I can drive him home again. Aaah the joys of having no public transport.
Obligatory or not this is wonderful. I have to say I have never seen so much blossom as this year, lets just hope there is no frost. I agree with you about the weather I just need SUN. I think I am developing rickets!!!!
If it is there then lets take a picture of it. Hope all goes well for Angus my youngest is doing his AS exams and elder son is doing first year exams at Bath. Not sure what to say as support but I am sure it will be ok .
This is a lovely shot and as an avid gardener I am sure all the work will be well appreciated and you will be surprised how much can happen in 4 weeks, and I sure once the army look at your shots they will wilt away. lol
Gorgeous blossoms!
I am with you when it comes to fair weather gardening, We are in the same boat. Spring has not really come except for the few days last week. And, we are in a wide spread frost warning. That means all the lovely blossoms will die, and perhaps the fruit as well.
Moan over!
After the winter we just had we all need a blossom shot in our albums. I'm sure Angus will be fine - Adam has been not helping himself at all by getting in a panic during/after last week's exams - laid back is useful at times (it served Rachel well!) I averted my eyes from the newspaper racks in the Co-op this morning - absolute doom and gloom about the weather. Then when I was walking the dog my friend said, 'What happened to the 'Sizzling May Heatwave' headlines?' So then I felt better about the same paper with the 'Another Summer Washout' headline this morning. They know nothing. Adam's headmaster has promised us a very hot July and August (he's feeling smug about his prediction of a long, cold winter). It's possible that he's assuming that we've ALL got foreign holiday homes....
@judithg I'm liking the sound of Adam's head teacher. Poor Adam, I am not sure which is worse. A friend of mine's son who got 10 A*s and an A at GCSE is going through the same panic thing with his AS's. She is in a right old state because she feels powerless to help him, and it is such a surprise after he was completely calm during the GCSEs. So in some ways I suppose I should count my blessings. Blimey they are a trial at times these kids aren't they?
@farmreporter No, I think that moaning is perfectly justified, especially if the fruit crops are going to be affected. The farmers have had such a rough time of it over the past twelve months.
@jantan Too right! I think Lower Sixth can be a very stressful time - I thank my lucky stars that I didn't have to do AS's as I took quite a while to get to grips with the new system. Too much stress for the poor things these days!
A big shock that after some sail through GCSE's how hard & a completely different ball game the A's are....Jack would far rather spend his time playing piano or guitar...not his exam subjects at all!!! Good luck to Adam & keep faith Jan!! Lydia is doing her AS exams & everyone seems so important nowadays, no let up al all!! I'm a fair weather gardener too...you are very brave opening up for National Garden Day i presume!
The weather is bloody miserable isn't it? That tantalising window of spring feels a bit bittersweet now (squally rain outside the window as I type) Hope it picks up again soon. And good luck Angus. Sure he'll be fine.
Such a gorgeously soft delicate shot and a fav for me.... ♥
The weather is just awful again and the very thought of a summer like last year fills me with despair..... and slowly we return to the muck and mud and slipping and sliding ..... muddy dogs, muddy floors, muddy wellies... increased doggy bathing.... more washing.... drying indoors... Noooooooooooooo lol!!! xx♥xx
