I got chatting to the lady who owns these sheep. She drove past while I was taking some pics over the fence and stopped to find out what I was up to. She said that she had been told that somebody in a Landrover had been seen photographing them before and was was relieved to see that it was just me and not somebody who was thinking about stealing them. I had assumed that they are Cotswolds, but she told me that they are Wensleydales which are an endangered breed.
She was a lovely lady and told me that I could go in with them and take pics any time I liked and that if I walked up the field I would see the tups (rams) in the next field. I am going to send her some pics for her website.
Love that you captured two pair... black and white. And I look forward to additional photos of this beautiful breed... I hope that the breed will again flourish.
Nice shot. So, your reputation proceeds you.
I was stalking big horns in the Rockies but no matter how many times we showed up where they were supposed to be I never found them. I think they were up in the rocks laughing at me. A good reason to go back.
