A big day in the Hall household. GCSE results day!
Graham is part way through two weeks off work so we both drove Angus to Stratford to collect his grades. We waited outside the school while he went in to collect his envelope. Graham spotted him coming down the road in the rear view mirror and said that he was looking very serious - gulp!
He got in the car and a big smile broke out over his face. He had done far better than any of us had hoped or expected. I must admit, it was only a few days ago that it crossed my mind that he might not even get the grades he required to stay on at his current school, and we had not given any thought to the alternatives. I had also only just crossed my mind that we had some of my old university friends coming to stay later today and if things had gone appallingly badly our house might not be the the best place to be for the weekend. Anyway, fortunately that wasn't an issue and my dear friends Karen and Rob arrived from Cambridge in the afternoon bearing a bottle of champagne.
Very confused until I realised this was from last week :o) Congrats on the results. It's always a relief when they get good grades. Cool shot. Are they swallows? xx
@psychographer thanks Lisa, yes they are swallows - I am desperately trying to catch up with my project. Always assume I am going to have more time to myself when the kids are on school holidays, but it never seems to work out like that.
Ooh only just read this!! Well done Angus and the little devil for winding you up!! Adam wasn't even here and I'd been warned he didn't have good signal either so it was a nice surprise at 7.30 to get a text (sent at 6.20 am) with the results. Though getting the results in two halves was very stressful indeed!
Mind you - good luck with the nagging next year! Maybe you won't need to now he's doing subjects he wants to do. Mind you you should have seen the scrappy bit of paper A's holiday maths was scribbled on this morning. Luckily he has the deputy head for maths so that sort of shoddiness won't last long :0))
Congrats to your son. I know my aunt and uncle from Teddington who were over here for the wedding were keen to find out how the scores went for their daughter's school. (She is a headmaster/principal somewhere near or in London) Guess her students did very well for themselves especially as their school has been disrupted with building renovations for such a long time.
