A filler today because it is blowing a hoolie out there and freezing cold so I don't feel like going out with the camera. I was only commenting yesterday that usually when I put the Christmas lights up outside our wisteria doesn't have any leaves on. This year it is still covered in them. Weird. Not sure how many leaves are going to be left by the end of today tho with this wind.

Missed a gorgeous sunset last night because I was driving, and a beautiful sunrise this morning because it happened during my regular 'shout at the kids' slot - i.e. just before they were due to leave the house for school.

Quiz night at the pub last night. Our usual team was a bit bigger than normal so we split into two teams: 4 women in one; and 6 men in the other. I was quite relieved because quiz night does bring out the bickeriness in Graham and I, and we started before we even got to the pub last night, so the evening wasn't boding well from the outset.

I am normally just about as uncompetetive a person as it is possible to get (apart from in Scrabble, but that's another story) but for some reason the gender split seemed to tap vein of a hitherto unparalleled desire to win, so it is with great pleasure that I can announce that we did!

Well actually, we didn't, we came fourth but several places above our spouses and that's what mattered!

Took the dog to the vets this morning for her annual booster. He is pleased with how she is doing, but she has put two kilos on in the last twelve months, so is now on a diet.

I am sure the 4 large chocolate muffins she removed from their ziploc bag and individual cling film wrappings and ate while I was out feeding the pigs this morning didn't do much to enhance her waistline. It's hardly surprising really that she turned her nose up at the doggy treat the vet tried to give to her for being a good girl when he injected her is it?
Love your filler. Such nice soft colours and focus. And the fact that it doesn't have snow in it is a bonus for me - am just starting winter and already in despair!
Oh ... and it really shouldn't surprise you that the ladies beat their spouses - that is just the natural order of things! LOL!
Congratulations on your 'win'!

This almost looks like three seasons rolled into one; spring with blossom on the ground, summer tree in tender new green leaf and autumn oranges. Such a great composition Jan. Shouting at children, LOL. Today Eve phoned me whilst out, I was in a lovely gifty shop, she told me she had forgotten her piano books for her lesson after school and could I run them up to her! I told her in no uncertain terms that I absolutely would not be ferrying books only to have to come home and collect her again later. I told her she has to learn to organise herself and would have to explain to her piano teacher why this is the second time this has happened. I said my bit and turned around to around of applause from other women in the shop, all of whom knew the scenario and commended me on refusal to jump to attention!

Like a beautiful painting Jan. I was only thinking yesterday that the wisteria still seemed to have most of its leaves - suffice to say after today's howling gale most of them are on the porch now - or rather blowing around like a mini tornado outside the front door! Congrats on the quiz night!

@lucypics haha good for you! And so funny about the applause. When Sam started secondary I used to get calls to tell me that he had forgotten his trainers. Like a sucker I took them to him a couple of times (40 mile round trip in a car that does 23 to the gallon!) I worked out that I had spent more in petrol than the damn things cost so refused the next time. He got himself organised pretty quickly then.

@farmreporter I just dread the snow. I suppose you are pretty much guaranteed it. We aren't really here so this country grinds to a halt whenever we do get it. It is as if we have never seen it before.

Lovely shot and glad the fairer sex won the pub quiz. Of course, we have the best brains! Your dog sounds a lot of fun but I'm sure you will run the muffins off her next time she goes out

Well done on your magnificent ''win''...that would take the smile off their faces...four against six...what were they doing!!!
I agree with @lucypics a photo of varying seasons.

And isn't chocolate bad for dogs? I suppose there is not much actual chocolate in a muffin, but keep an eye on him. http://kb.rspca.org.au/Why-is-chocolate-toxic-to-dogs-and-other-pets_476.html

Pretty colors Jan.

You mean she didn't eat the wrappers? Could do to get the dog's booster in before Christmas so he's ready for the kennel.
