Another shot from Monday morning. taken about 50 feet to the left of yesterday's shot. I quite like the way you can see the sun lighting up the mist in the valley, although as is usually the case, this looks best viewed large on black if you have time.
A busy day yesterday mostly seeming to comprise wading through mud to feed animals, defrosting taps at the stables, a doc's trip with Angus and lots of driving and shopping. Mostly grocery shopping but Sam is having a major growth spurt at the moment (I am now officially the shortest human in the household) and I looked at him the other day and noticed that his trousers seem to have fallen out with his ankles again, so I had to buy him some more.
I also bought a dog whistle.
Our dog seems to be getting deafer and deafer and her eyesight is failing too. Every evening she catches sight of her reflection in the glass doors in the kitchen and wont settle until she has been out into the garden to chase off the strange blurry dog she has seen.
This of course means she goes out into the garden and barks, and because she can't hear me calling her usually means I have to put my boots on and go out and get her. A right pain! I have managed to convince myself that she can still hear high pitched noises because if I clap sharply she will usually come in. So I had a brainwave and bought one of those high pitched dog whistles. Well, it seems that my theory was wrong because I can stand right next to her and blow it and she doesn't even twitch an ear.........
Back to the clapping and midnight trips into the garden I suppose.
Beautiful capture, love the layers and the frost in the foreground. fav
Welcome to the club Jan! I am the eldest and the shortest in my household family (I do have a sister shorter than I though!)
I bought a proper game keepers whistle for Tui once thinking I would blow & she would come tearing back from which ever neighbours doorstep she is sitting on...no luck....I could have given you that one as it's hanging on the hook unused.
This is a stunning photo...big big fave for me ....just a perfectly lit scene of a beautiful winter morning.
@happypat thanks Pat, actually I think I have got one of those whistles somewhere. But let's face it, if you can't get your border collie to come back, what hope have I got with a deaf, blind, brain cell challenged mutt?
@boxplayer ...ha... what? Actually, the shop which is six miles away has recently been taken over by some quite posh people who not only have opened a rather lovely tea room, but are just about to open a deli counter, so watch this space..... to be honest, I am not sure how well it will do considering where they are.
