swallow, hawthorn blossom and showery skies

The swallows are back nesting in one of our stables. I haven't actually managed to work out where their nest is this year. They usually use an old one but seem to have abandoned that one - probably sick and tired of the intrusion of me taking pictures of them when they are trying to incubate their eggs.

It is amazing how close they let me get to them. I took this shot with my 100mm macro lens so it is quite heavily cropped.
We found that they never use an old nest! This was before I started taking "proper" photos! So pleased to see an excellent focus of these picturesque birds!

That macro lens is really versatile - not just for close ups! Maybe they've got ticks in their old nest or have been watching Grand Designs.
