cold, bleak and muddy - not really a day for venturing far, especially because son number 2 offered to feed the animals.
He has deferred his third year at university, got a job and is and working from home full time. So I think he felt the need to get outside.
From our point of view it is wonderful to have him home, but I do feel sorry for him. This isn't how his 21st year should be panning out. He's the party animal, festival-goer, good-time guy of the family, who usually lives life to the max. So being shut up in 'Dingly Dell' with us two is not ideal. It is a good job that he has such a positive outlook on life.
I love this image! Super POV. I totally understand what you're saying about your son. Ours is 25 and he came home in the summer to work from for a while (first year in his first job). He thought he was coming home for 3-4 weeks and ended up staying 4 months, with girlfriend elsewhere! So difficult for so many young people at the moment. But like yours, ours never complained and coped with living with the aged parents no bother at all. And, yes we did enjoy having him home. :-)
It’s the young ones I feel for too, ok for us older ones who are quite happy staying reasonably close to home anyway but the young ones have lots to do, places to go & friends to party with....same for out grandson stuck at home with dad & mum but he just wants a job with a future!
He sounds a sensible lad but you feel for them. A nice break from going outside for you!
Great countryside capture Jan.
We have a very similar situation with our university student offspring. Eldest dental student daughter is expected back into London next week with the city in a very dangerous situation. You are stuck between a rock and a hard place where you either protect your safety (and that of others) or risk not graduating with missed compulsory clinical days. Government not addressed higher education at all.
@lucycameron they really haven't Lucy, in various ways. Angus is back in Leeds in his student house, sharing with a medic. He would be here, but with both Graham and Sam at home working online all day, mostly on Zoom calls, our internet isn't good enough for him to study from here.

So sorry to hear about your son's problems. This too shall pass!
