I posted a pic of one of the grass snakes in our pond in my other stuff album yesterday, but went out to see them again, this time with my macro lens. I sat on the edge of the pond and one of the snakes came across the top of the weeds to within about eighteen inches of me.
We had a load of people round in the morning to watch the decider of the Lions' tour. Such an exciting game and such a good win.
Graham and a couple of friends spend most of the day trying to put together the new pig houses. The instructions said that it should take 30 minutes to build, it took three men about three hours and it still isn't finished. It is a farrowing house with bars around it which give the piglets somewhere to lie without fear of being laid on by their mother. It also has a door in the back so you can see what is going on. The pigs are due to farrow in about eight days time.
I spent some time spraying the two old donks with insect repellent which they absolutely hated. Joey Boy's bites seem a lot better, but unfortunately the sick chicken had to be put out of its misery.
Wonderful shot. I like snakes. And the problem with your farrowing pens is that you had "three men" putting it together. IMHO that's three men with their own ideas of how to put it together and none who want to read the instructions!!
Awesome shot of this snake. Neat how he has armor coming out the back of his head (ears?).
Great detailed shot of him - and great capture of a shy retiring creature!
I laughed when I read about the three men trying to put your new pig house together - so funny
Love this. He sure does have a scowl. ;-) And I can see the tip of his forked tongue.
I'm fascinated at the way they move over the top of the water vegetation. It seems so strange, but then again I know snakes can swim so it's not really so strange I suppose.
