Tiger Lilly by jbritt

Tiger Lilly

Before I loaded the images on the computer and played with them a bit, I was sure I would use the photo of a bee on my lavender plant. I was photographing the lavender and a bee came to visit--such lucky timing. But for some reason, this photo just appealed to me more.

Tiger Lillies are not my favorite flowers. I'm not sure why, but they usually don't appeal to me. This one came with the peonies that I dug up during my neighbor's major house renovation. It looks a little like an orphan since I usually see tiger lillies in large groups and this one is pretty much alone among the peonies.

I took some to a friend today and they looked nice with the blue and purple snowballs that I picked from another friend's yard. Maybe this flower will grow on me and I will learn to appreciate its beauty.

That's one thing I love about photography--I can see things that I would ordinarily miss. Like drawing, it provides a means to study details that I would overlook without the camera..
I agree with you...I see things and images through a lens now and I pay more attention to my surroundings! Love the detail you captured! So your neighbors don't are if you pick their flowers? What are snowballs? Can you take a picture so I can see them!

Snowballs, hydrangea. The contrast of the blue and orange was very nice indeed.

The camera can see more than the photographer can see, revealing lovely details later like the pollen on this flower. This is a splendid shot, great angle. I wasn't fond of tiger lilies, either... they came with the house and provide a couple of weeks of accent color every June. But I found myself missing them, since I am deprived of their company this spring, and thank you for bringing them to me every which way today.
