Wonga Pigeon by jeneurell

Wonga Pigeon

For about 10 years I have been doing the Aussie Backyard Bird Count which happens once or twice a year. Like many others I count the birds I can see from my yard in Mapleton for 20 minutes. This year there were Pied Currawongs, Noisy Miners, an Eastern Whipbird, and some Welcome Swallows - but the most exciting was the Wonga Pigeon. We often hear them, but have never seen one in the yard before. It certainly is a fat little pigeon.
How fabulous that you see such a variety. I usually only see the same ones. Lovely shot of this gorgeous pigeon, love the markings 😊

Good that you were able to get a good shot. It sounds as though you had an enjoyable week.

@ludwigsdiana @ethelperry Thank you for your comment on my Wonga pigeon. We actually saw two in the neighbours yard yesterday - so they just must be around at the moment.
