I'd been watching the Currawong in my back yard - it was actually lying on the ground like it had found a nice warm spot and thought it wwould stay there. We have also seen the magpies doing the same thing, but no idea why. I have used a Photoshop to select the background and turn it black and white, and also used the graphic pen filter on the background.
They lie on the ground with their wings spread to kill off mites and parasites that live in their feathers.
I love currawongs. Perfect with selective colouring it really emphasises that gorgeous eye
@onewing Thanks Babs - we had wondered if it was for something like that. The odd thing about it is that both the currawongs and the magpies use the same spot down near the compost heap.
