Thanks a lot for the many dear visits and comments on yesterday's picture! If you follow the path, you will come to the Czech Republic in about an hour. The trees on the current picture line this border. Up to three decades ago, the "Iron Curtain" run there, a border fiercely guarded by the countries of the former Eastern bloc. Today it is peaceful.
The trees are standing like sentinels as they mark out man's old imagined, but non-existent, border. This image has an air of desolation as well as the natural beauty of the environment.
Your scene evokes the historical picture - the lightness of the foreground representing Austria's freedom. Looming over is the darkness of the repression behind the Iron Curtain.
@kerosene When I walk past these trees, I think of the many people who died here - died because they wanted to escape from an inhuman regime. Peace, freedom, open hearts... I wish this very much.
Thank you, Caroline.
